Annual Presentation Dinner 2013

Last night (Sunday), members, non-members, old members and to be members arrived at the Crown and Sceptre in Bromyard full of festive spirit. Upon arrival around 7pm, guests exchanged greetings and milled around, catching up on what's happened since the season ended!
The places were set - time for food!

This is from the Crown and Sceptre's website:
"Laura and family welcome you to the Crown and Sceptre, a traditional country town pub right at the heart of the community. The pub is situated in a beautiful old grade II listed building in the Herefordshire town of Bromyard.

The Crown offers traditional pub values brought into the 21st century whilst maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We offer a range of Wye Valley ales, a comprehensive wine list traditional homemade food."

We made our way through to the room where we were to dine and entered a modern, contemporary room but yet is still retained that beautiful old pub feel!

This magnificent was one of the three
desserts on offer.
We didn't have to wait too long until an army of waiters and waitresses came along with the first course. On offer was a choice between Brocoli & Stilton Soup, Fish Cakes or Chicken Liver & Garlic Pâté. Guests chatted amongst the people on their table, complimented the delicious starters and looked to be having great fun!
The much anticipated main course was obviously next; Turkey with all the trimmings and piping hot gravy, fish pie with creamy cheesy mash or vegetarian fish pie with mash potato were on offer, all with freshly cooked vegtables.
As the plates lay clean on the tables and bellies almost full, it could only mean one thing was left - dessert! For this course, it was either trifle, Christmas pudding or fudge cake (ooh, decisions!). Presentation was obviously one of the highlights of the evening, as every course looked superb; but food wasn't the most important thing happening believe it or not, it was, of course, our annual presentation!

Random Pairs 2013 winners
C. Oakley and L. Shimmin
We hold our presentation ever year, usually on the first, or second weekend of December. It's where the winners and runners up of the competitions get awarded with their prizes. A lot of hard work goes into the competitions, whether it's organising them, participating in them or even cleaning the green so they can go ahead.

Random Pairs Winners - C. Oakley and L. Shimmin
Random Pairs Runners Up - J. Thomas and B. May
Singles Winner - C. Thomas
Singles Runner Up - R. Manning

And finally - a special thank you to Liz, who helped organise this wonderful night and to Rita, or sorted out all the prizes for both the winners, and runners up.
