Dipping into the past: New clubhouse ready

Here's the second in a line of articles from the past:

Bromyard Bowls Club's improved new pavilion was opened for the new season on Saturday by Clive Richards OBE, with the mayor Joan Dauncey and town crier Peter Dauncey in attendance.

The bowls club is part of Bromyard Sports Foundation, which was initiated by the Clive Richards Charity, and until recent years members had used the rugby club facilities.

They then reassessed their ambitions and, with funding from various organisations, bought a portable building and an old school classroom and married the two together as a clubhouse.

Phase two of the project to convert the buildings into changing rooms and a function room was carried out by a team of workers from within the club ranks.

Now the club has the building to go with their all-weather green and has facilities for the disabled.

Wheelchair bowlers are welcome, but will have to provide their own specialised bowling wheelchairs.
