Finals Day

Yesterday (Saturday), the club held its annual finals day, where the competitions get tied up. After several knock-out rounds, where some shock exits occurred.

So, at 1pm yesterday finalists and other members came together at the clubhouse for what turned out to be lovely afternoon with ideal weather.

Liz & Colin vs Bill & James was the line up for the final of the random pairs; the game started off in favour of Bill & James but soon turned against them. They were the underdogs , as their opponents had more experience between them. The final score was 35 - 9 after 16/18 ends. The mutual decision was taken before the 15th end, as mathematically, Liz & Colin had won.

Moving over to the final of the singles, Roly took on Caroline who had one the title a few years before. The game started off with Roly dominating, but this wasn't to last. Caroline found her legs and was soon on the route to the trophy. Roly put his best performance out there, but it wasn't enough and the final score here, was 21 - 9.

At 2pm, whilst the competitions were still heating up, other members of the club took to the green for a roll up. This was thoroughly enjoyable for all who took part and just as a quick side note, Tuesday night roll ups are continuing as long as the weather allows. Members are meeting slightly earlier, just after 5pm, as the nights are drawing in rapidly.

With the competitions over for another year, it means we can now look forward to our annual presentation evening. Final details are yet to be confirmed, but it is highly to be during the week commencing 2nd December. Further details will be available once we've got them.

We'd like to thank all the players who took part in this year's competitions as well as those ex-members who turned up with cake and made a cup of tea after yesterday's finals!
