The answer to this question will be different depending on the persons circumstances.
For example, our caterer would arrive around 1 hour before the match is due to start. They would then lay the tables and unload the refreshments. When it is time to bowl, they would bowl.
Our captain would normally arrive 30 - 40 minutes before the start of the match. They would arrange the teams when the opposing team's captain arrives. When it was time to bowl, they would bowl.
A normal player would usually arrive 15 - 30 minutes before the match is due to start. They may help lay the tables or put out the equipment.
Of course, our groundskeepers would help to cut the grass and tidy the green in the morning before the afternoon match.
We have matches at different times on different days. Saturday matches usually start at 3pm (sometimes 2.30pm). A weekday match would start at 2.30pm, 3pm, 6.15pm or 6.30pm.
You are welcome to join the club how ever often you are able to bowl.
