Today's opponents - Grosvenor

In the 1950's, Worcester City Council employees were playing on a green at Perdiswell, which coincidentally, later became the site of the indoor bowls pavilion. After that pavilion was burned down, there was a move to Cripplegate Park, and in 1960, a little bowls club was formed, with a big title - "The National Association of Local Government Officers Worcester City Branch, Sports and Social Club Bowls Section".

Apart from a short move next door to The Hylton Club in the early 90's, until this became a nightclub, NALGO BC continued its modest existence at Cripplegate Park, but changed names, firstly to UNISON BC, and in 2004 to GROSVENOR BC, recognizing that few Union members were active Bowlers, and that most members lived in the St.Johns area and used The Grosvenor Inn regularly.

GROSVENOR BC became a member of the Consortium of Cripplegate Bowlers, helping to improve the greens, (no longer maintained by Worcester City Council,) that now provide some of the best bowling surfaces in the County.

Success on the greens has been limited, with the undoubted highlight being the 1999 Vernon Turner Cup Runners-up spot.
