Ross' Next Generation

school visitA visit from pupils of Ashfield Park School has become a regular event for the members of Ross-on-Wye Bowls Club.  They aim to encourage young people to engage in a gentle and friendly sport and share all the facilities the Club has to offer, free of any membership charges.  The following letter from the school emphasises the efforts by the Club to encourage younger people in the Ross area to follow a healthy and satisfactory lifestyle, by playing the game of Bowls.

school visit"Year 6 pupils from Ashfield Park Primary School thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful morning at Ross-on-Wye Bowls Club.  Under the direction of enthusiastic bowling club members, the children had the opportunity to try petanque, short mat bowls and lawn bowls. Members demonstrated important skills for each of the games and, as a result, many of the children discovered previously unrecognised talents as bowlers.  Whatever their level of skill, though, all of them enjoyed their successes. Without exception, the children declared the experience to be 'brilliant fun'!  Indeed, many are already looking forward to a return visit. Many, many thanks to Ross-on-Wye Bowling Club and particularly Teresa Williams, who organised the event, from the staff and Year 6 pupils of Ashfield Park.  10/10!"
