The venue was swapped because it was easier to have it away.
Here is the about section from Gelligaled's website (http://www.gelligaledbowlingclub.co.uk/)
Gelligaled Bowling Club was formed in 1932 and played on a grass green near the original main entrance to Gelligaled Park Ystrad Rhondda until the close of the 2001 summer season.
During 2002 and the early part of 2003 the bowling club was without a home green as a new special school (Ysgol Hen Felin) was built on the site of the former green.
A new synthetic (outdoor woven carpet) bowling green, pavilion and car parking (all with full disabled access) was built on the site of disused tennis courts in the centre of the park.
This new 21st Century facility has ensured the continuation of the club in addition to providing excellent bowling facilities for disabled and non-disabled persons.
In addition to being awarded the Gold Standard by the Welsh Bowls Federation (WBF) the club has also been granted the Disability Sport Wales Insport Silver Award
and is also an AIM Club within Rhondda Cynon Taff.
During the past 9 years the club has achieved some success playing in the open stage of the Carruthers Shield team competition, the final of the WD Jones Trophy competition (twice) and the semi final and final of the Vater Shield competition. Members have achieved individual success in several competitions including the senior coach, Mr Ron Williams, who has won the Rhondda League and the Cynon Valley League Singles competitions in the same year.
The photograph below shows Ron playing in an exhibition match against young bowler, Chris Berry.

Currently the youngest member of the club is just 13 years of age whilst the oldest (and still playing) is in his 98th year. Both born on the same date - just 84 years apart. This clearly shows that bowls is for everyone regardless of age.
Both young and not so young, disabled and non-disabled interested persons are welcome at Gelligaled which strives to serve all in the community.
The green is immediately adjacent to the Rhondda Sports Centre. Click the post code link of the Sports Centre CF41 7SY for a map.
