Sometime ago, it was announced that Wellington Bowls Club had received a £50,000 grant. The grant was from the Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund and would be used for replacing their carpet green, which costed £45,000. It was said that the remaining money would be used on their shelter.
A carpet bowls green should be replaced every 15 years or so, which means a club needs to save £3,000 right from the start of the life of their new green.
It was a really exciting time for Wellington when the club won the grant.
Wellington are travelling to Bromyard on Saturday, to face a 3pm start with a fellow carpet greened club.
